Why Florida Buildings Require Public Safety DAS

Florida's Fire Prevention Code (NFPA 1, Section 11.10 and local amendments) requires Emergency Responder Communication Enhancement Systems (ERCES) — commonly called Public Safety DAS or BDA systems — in buildings that do not meet minimum radio signal strength requirements for first responders. This includes most new construction over a certain size, as well as existing buildings undergoing significant renovation or change of occupancy. Requirements are enforced by local fire marshals in each county, and non-compliant buildings may fail occupancy inspections or be subject to fines.

Industrial Communications & Electronics handles the entire process: site survey, RF testing, system design, permitting, installation, commissioning, and FCC licensing. Contact us to get started, or schedule a site survey for your Central Florida property.
